An All-Inclusive Resort on a Budget?

Mexico is no stranger to budget-friendly resorts, but which one is the best to stay at? If you've been to Cancun (or anywhere near Cancun), you will know that resorts line the highway for miles on end. Some resorts are more family friendly, attached to theme parks, and some are adults only. No matter what you are in Cancun, and no matter what resort you stay at, it will be well worth your time and money.

The Fives Oceanfront Resort in Puerto Morelos is one of the most incredible resorts I have stayed at. It is located on the beach - hence the name oceanfront - in a little fishing village called Puerto Morelos. This town has all the unique charm a small town would have - small vendors and shops with homemade goodies, little taco bars and restaurants, and people walking to and from the beach. Only a 25-minute ride from the Cancun airport, it is tucked off the main highway, and is not the only resort on the beach, but it makes you feel as though it is.

Most resorts can be busy; pools and restaurants full of people. The Fives Oceanfront is a bit smaller than most resorts, with only two pools and three restaurants, but that is what makes it a phenomenal place to stay. The resort is kid-friendly, but the rooftop infinity pool is adults only, making it the perfect getaway, even if you brought your kids with you. The restaurants have amazing food and the bars have any drink you could want, which brings me to the staff.

The staff at The Fives Oceanfront is incredible beyond belief. They tended to our every need; at the restaurants, at the bars, at the pool, and even while in our hotel room. Upon entering the resort, they greeted us with cocktails and sat with us as we checked in. Along the way, we made friends with the staff, as they provided exceptional service. They even had an activities director to host bingo games and beach volleyball tournaments. In my eyes, this was a five-star resort, and I will be visiting again.

If you want to get away from the resort, all you need to do is walk down the beach to one of the small restaurants or bars, and you will be met with similar kindness. As far as booking the resort, I would recommend doing all-inclusive. They will work with your budget, but it can be so cheap, you will be questioning if it's all-inclusive the whole time you are there.

I went in August, which was pretty hot and humid, so I suggest planning accordingly. Since it was at the beginning of school's starting back up, it was fairly laid-back with not too many visitors. The temperature was a little over 100 degrees Fahrenheit everyday, and a cool 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit at night. The humidity is enough to make you want to bring a towel with you wherever you go, so plan on hanging out at the pool or beach and wearing shorts or flowy pants and sandals. The UV index will not be your friend, so bring plenty of sunscreen and hats. If you forget, the front desk has anything you need, including extra sunscreen.

If you're looking for a destination to hang with the gals, I would suggest diving into Mexico's waters! I cannot recommend this resort, and this town, enough. Get away from the big resorts and stay at the Fives Oceanfront Resort, you will not regret it!
