Where Should You Go?
The biggest question most people have when they want to travel is "where should I travel to next?"
Let me help you with that!
Spending time and money can be a big deal, so it is important to think things through. Go somewhere that interests you, that you could see yourself having a wonderful time at, eating good food and experiencing new things you never thought possible. Whether it's a relaxing, no-stress getaway to the beach or a fast-paced walk through old cities and new history lessons, choose the trip that is best suited for the needs and wants of you and your family. It may even be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so make it count!
Why These Places Should Be Your Next Visit
The pro's (not con's) of traveling to another city, state, country, or continent.
The United States
Arizona
Scottsdale, Tucson, Tempe, Lake Havasu
If you are looking for a getaway for a bachelorette party, a birthday party, a golfing trip, or a palm tree, swimming paradise, Arizona is the place for you. Notably, Arizona has some of the best local restaurants for a foodie's paradise.
Good For: A girl's (or guy's) trip, a golf trip, a road trip
California
San Diego, Coronado, Napa Valley, San Fransisco, Oceanside
California is THE place to be if you like sunshine and sea. The beaches in the smaller coastal towns provide peace and quiet, while the bigger cities provide fun and noise. Napa Valley is the ultimate girl's trip destination for wine lovers, and it doesn't have to be expensive.
Good For: A group trip, a couple's trip, a family trip, summer sports
Colorado
I am a Colorado native, so I have nothing but good things to say about this state. You could go anywhere in CO and fall in love with the geography. From winter sports in the mountains to summer hiking on any trail you come across, Colorado is a nature paradise. Denver has the small city excitement, while the mountain towns have the small town wonder. Don't forget to get green chili anywhere you go!
Good For: hiking, winter sports, mountain getaway, a family trip
Floribama
Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach
The Floribama Shore offers a wide array of vacation vibes, so if you're looking for something more relaxing, stay in Pensacola. If you're looking for a college spring break vibe, Gulf Shores may be a better fit. Either way, the white sand and the blue sea water will be well worth it.
Good For: a family trip, a spring break trip, summer sports
New York
I am not a major city girl by any means, but New York makes me feel like I could be. The Big Apple is a pleasant surprise of excitement everywhere you go. From the food to the shows, the sites to the experiences, New York is not as relaxing as a trip, but is worth every minute spent.
Good For: a Christmas trip, a girl's trip, a shopping trip
Louisiana
New Orleans
Talk about fun. New Orleans is truly a sight to see. Not only is the food incredible, but the liveliness of the people in the streets and the antique buildings are amazing. And of course, the music, brings it all together. If you love history and the paranormal, this is the place for you.
Good For: a group trip, a birthday trip, a foodie trip, all things spooky
Tennessee
Nashville
If you love country or classical rock, Nashville is a dreamer's paradise for good music. Most are cover bands, but you cannot walk down Broadway without hearing a good live music set. It is also not short of dancing, so put on some cowboy boots and a hat and jump in!
Good For: a group trip, a music trip, a bachelor/bachelorette trip
Nevada
Las Vegas
Experiencing the Las Vegas Strip is a must-see in your lifetime. The casinos, the clubs, the food, it's all there. As a gal who does not gamble, I can make Vegas pretty cheap, but any experience in Vegas is well worth your money. And, hey, what happens there stays there.
Good For: a group trip, a birthday trip, a spring break trip
Hawaii
The Island of Maui
Maui is a breathtaking scene of greenery and culture. The seafood is pure, the experiences are unforgetable, and the views are unlike anything in the main states. I would suggest going to every island if possible, even though I have only been to one, but they're not all the same!
Good For: a honeymoon, a family trip, summer sports
The Pacific Northwest
Oregon and Washington
Portland, Seattle, and the coastal towns in the PNW are perfect for beach and mountain lovers. Yes, it does rain a lot, but that adds to the dark, rainy, mysterious lore of the geographical landscapes. I absolutely recommend experiencing the lush, green nature and the rocky beaches; you will not regret it.
Good For: hiking, winter and summer sports, a family trip
The Atlantic Northeast
Massachusets, Connecticut, and Rhode Island
Cape Cod and Boston are insanely unique to someone who lives in the once-known "Wild West." The history in New England is quite different to Colorado's, as well as the landscape and weather. I recommend going beginning of the Summer or middle of Autumn, as it is pretty humid, but the beaches and old houses and buildings are worth the sweat.
Good For: a fall trip, a family trip, a road trip, Halloween
Wisconsin
Milwaukee
Milwaukee may not be at the top of many people's bucket lists, but I am here to tell you it should be. It is full of good bars and good restaurants with some of the best food and the most fun I have ever had. I highly recommend going anytime of year.
Good For: a birthday trip, a group trip
Texas
San Antonio and Austin
Both cities are up and coming, chic cities with good food, good art, and good views. San Antonio has an old-town feel with it's river-walk, and Austin has an upscale new-town vibe with it's boutique restaurants.
Good For: a group trip, a bachelor/bachelorette trip, an art trip
Why These Places Should Be Your Next Visit
The pro's (not con's) of traveling to another city, state, country, or continent.
Internationally
Mexico
If you are looking for a relaxing, stress-free vacation at the beach, look no further than Mexico. You cannot go wrong with staying at a resort in Mexico, soaking up the sun, inclusive food and drinks, and beach and pool galore. I recommend staying at The Fives Oceanfront Resort in Puerto Morelos.
Good For: a birthday, a bachelor/bachelorette, spring break, honeymoon.
Canada
Green rainforests? Beautiful hikes and beaches? Relaxing? If any of these fit you idea of a nice vacation, I recommend staying in British Columbia. Victoria and Sooke, BC are incredibly beautiful places just across the US border. Easy to get to, this vacation would be a good step into Canada to explore the country.
Good For: hiking, a road trip, a family trip.
Australia
Melbourne is a place unlike any other and a true once-in-a-lifetime vacation across seas. Melbourne is a city with suburbs that make it feel like home: quiet, relaxing, peaceful. Try out a meat pie, a cricket game, or even driving on the opposite side of the road. If you do anything, please see the kangaroos and koalas.
Good For: a road trip, a family trip, a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Denmark
Copenhagen in the winter; freezing but so worth it! From the holiday decor to the Christmas Market, and the hundreds of shops, you'll never be bored. The architecture of the palaces and churches, and the colorful buildings by the water are the perfect place for mesmerizing scenery, and a great photo opportunity.
Sweden
If you like fantasy stories or old architecture, Stockholm is the place for you. And I'm not talking about the new downtown, I'm talking about Gamla Stan, the Old Town. It is full of shops, cozy restaurants, hotels, and vibes fantastical vibes that can't be beat. Downtown Stockholm is also a treat; a poppin' city with plenty to do.
Norway
On the West Coast of Norway is a city called Stavanger. Rich in oil production, Stavanger is an energy-efficient city, smaller than normal cities, but big enough to never run out of things to do. The City Center has great shops and restaurants as well, and a stunning view of the Fjord is only a 20 minute drive, and maybe a 30 minute hike if you want a 360 view. If you want to get out of the tourist areas in Europe, this is the place to be.
